Azelaic acid creams are said to be a good cosmetics in treatment for melasma. When used to cure upper lip melasma they were enchancing the speed in which melanocyte cells regenerated. Typical azelaic acid cream - Azelex is a natural, topical and antibacterial cream. Big advantage of azelaic acid creams is that they are relatively cheaps and offer best quality in melasma treatment. Melanocytes as a main skin cells affected by melasma.

What are melanocytes? They are skin cells which are mainly responsible for pigment production. They are located in the middle section of human skin. Main substance which is produced by melanocytes is called "melanine". Process in which melanine is produced by melanocytes is called melanogenesis. Melanocytes are skin cells which are affected by hormones during melasma. Main aim in treatment for melasma is to reverse melanocytes to their normal working cycle.
